There is nothing magic about the low carb diets. Carb break down to sugars in your body, so a low carb diet is a low sugar diet. Americans eat far too much sugars. In general, low carb diets are good for everyone, not just people wanting to lose weight. (Look at info about Metabolic Syndrome in the Medical section.) Too many carbs are bad for Diabetes, Heart Disease etc. I do recommend taking steps to reduce carbs, especially processed foods. The links below give introductory info to the most well-known low-carb diets. You can google the individual diets to get more specific info.
