what is premature ejaculation

Premature ejaculation is simply climaxing before you or your partner are ready. Ejaculating quickly is just that – you ejaculate morre quickly than you or your partner would like! All the advertising about premature ejaculation could make you think there is something bad, wrong or even clinically problematic about climaxing quickly, but there really isn’t. However, if longer sex is a mutual goal that you and your partner share, great – there are ways to make that happen that can even be fun for both of you!

Premature ejaculation can be improved, but you do need to work at it!

There are mental and physical reasons for why and when ejaculation occurs and if you and your partner can be aware of the triggers and manage them together (rather than making it one partner’s ‘fault’) then you can probably overcome the frustration that one or both of you are experiencing and have a more positive relationship all round.

What Can I Do About Premature Ejaculation?

Quick Fixes:

Wear A Condom –
⦁ As simple as this strategy sounds it is actually one of the best ways to control ejaculation when performing intercourse. This trick is by no means 100% but it does work for a lot of men. Condoms reduce stimulation and sensitivity for alot of men, which in return should prolong the amount of time before ejaculation occurs.

⦁ Make sure you stay clear of condoms that are marketed as extra thin. While starting out you need to learn to control ejaculation and get used to what your body is trying to tell you. You can always upgrade to a brand that allows more stimulation later at a later date.

Be careful and go slowly putting on the condom, as you do not want to cause stimulation to the penis at the wrong time and inadvertently get excited,

⦁ A lot of condoms these days are coated with a slight numbing gel located on the inside of the condom. This gel can help delay ejaculation for a greater period of time without causing numbness to your partner. Just make sure you know which side is which when you put the condom on your penis!

Use an analgesic cream or spray.
Using sprays and creams is becoming more popular amongst men these days. As manufacturers are finding new ways through research and development to help guys with premature ejaculation. When looking at purchasing various sprays and creams always make sure you read product reviews and seek doctor’s advice to make sure it is body safe. If you are unsure about a certain product is better to steer clear then take a risk with something in your most precious area!
⦁ There are two main classes of products. The first is the traditional “numbing” creams and sprays that have been on the market for a while now. The upside is that you’ll feel less sensation, which will effectively delay ejaculation. The downside is your partner may suffer a loss of sensation and sensitivity as well—and of course less sensitive intercourse is not always an appealing notion, even in these circumstances. Always make sure both your partner and self are aware of the side effects when using creams or sprays. If any rashes or irritation starts to occur, book an appointment with your GP immediately.

Apply Strategic Pressure.
With a little anatomy knowledge of your body, you can delay an oncoming ejaculation by applying pressure to one of two spots. These are:
⦁ Perineum pressure: Pressing on the perineum, a spot that is located midway between your scrotum and your anus, will help to stop or slow down ejaculation, because this spot reaches through to the prostate gland. It is the prostate that contracts and expands during orgasm and then expels the ejaculation fluid. You may like to ask your partner to apply this loving pressure for you.
⦁ Testicle tug: When a man nears orgasm his scrotum rises up closer to his body. You can delay ejaculation by gently pulling your testes down and away from your body. Your partner can also do this for you pending the ⦁ sexual position you are currently performing.

Changes In The Bedroom

Reduce Anxiety.
It is not uncommon for many men that anxiety and pressure to perform is a major contributor to premature ejaculation. You need to try and relax and remember that your partner probably does not care to much about premature ejactulation at the start but rather being intimate and close with you sexually. Make sure your communication with her is solid and that you both have an understanding on the situation and that you are both willing to work on it.

⦁ Take climax out of your expectations in sexual intercourse. Instead of viewing intercourse only as a means of achieving orgasm, reframe it as relaxing and pleasurable time with your partner that you’ll enjoy regardless. Discuss this new mindset with your partner, so that he or she can stop pressuring you, intentionally or not. Eventually you both will have amazing and well timed orgasms together.

One strategy is that for one week, you and your partner can agree to be intimate WITHOUT progressing to intercourse. That takes off some of the pressure. You can touch, massage, carress and finally reach orgasm, but the goal is to delay that for as long as possible while being comfortable with one another.

Non Sexual Thoughts.

This is one of the oldest tricks in the book. Believe it or not, it does actually work but may take some time to get under control. As we all know when your girl is looking hot and sexy and grinding all over you that it may be a bit hard to stop and think about your next football game coming up on the weekend! If you notice yourself getting too excited, try turn your thoughts to something distant, abstract and unsexy, such as math, school or rush hour traffic. Only concentrate on it long enough to give yourself a short break from arousal. This may be as short as 5 to 10 seconds or it could be a minute or so, make sure you quickly refocus your attention on your partner. Avoid thinking of a topic that is going to make you stressed or cause you to lose your arousal all together.

Edging.
Edging, or orgasm control, is the practice strategy of maintaining a high level of sexual arousal while delaying ejaculation during intercourse. This takes alot of practice, but it does get easier over time. Here are two methods recommended by the National Institutes of Health to stop premature ejaculation.

⦁ Stop-and-start method: Have sexual intercourse as usual until you feel yourself approaching orgasm. Immediately and abruptly cease all stimulation with your partner for up to 30 seconds, then start again. Repeat this pattern until you can’t stop no more and you’re ready to ejaculate.

⦁ Squeeze method: Have intercourse as usual until you feel like your orgasm is moments away. Abruptly stop other stimulation and gently squeeze your thumb and forefinger around the part of the penis where the glans meets the shaft (or your partner could do this for you). After applying pressure for a few seconds, pause all stimulation for another 30 seconds before resuming intercourse. Repeat this pattern until you’re ready to finally ejaculate.

Change Positions
Some sexual intercourse positions put less pressure on the glans (or the most sensitive part of the penis). lets take a look and learn what positions these are:
⦁ Try “passive” positions. Lie beneath your female partner, or try a side-by-side (or spooning) position.

⦁ Avoid “active” positions. Missionary and rear-entry positions place the most stimulation and friction on the glans, so consider taking them off the menu for now. This will help educate your body on what it is expected to do when performing intercourse. When you upgrade to more exotic positions your body and glans will have the right training and be able to control ejactulation longer.

Take Things Slow
Everybody is different when it comes to sexual intercourse and how quickly you reach orgasm. Depending on your personal sensitivity, try slowing your movements and thrusting motions and opt for gentler, more teasing intercourse style – this can help you hold off reaching orgasm. If you find yourself getting too close to orgasm, slow down, change positions, or take a break to stimulate your partner in other ways. Perhaps try oral sex or even move to a sex toy such as the rabbit vibrator or g-spot vibrator to keep her urges in full swing until you’re ready to hop back on.

Focus On Foreplay
Sometimes “premature” is all in your head. Even if your ejaculation comes fast during intercourse, you can still give your partner a great sexual experience through more extended, intimate, attentive and generous foreplay. Stimulate your partner enough before intercourse. Try orally or with toys, and they may not need or want a long bout of intercourse to both finish happy.  Just be careful not to excessively stimulate your own penis during foreplay or else that will defeat the purpose and bring your closer to climax.

Exercise and Training To Control Orgasm
PC Muscle Exercises – Learning methods of flexing and strengthening your pubococcygeus (PC) muscle can help you exert more control over when it comes time to ejaculate. Note: These are also called Kegel exercises, which you might have heard about women doing. The muscle is the same in both guys and girls.
⦁ How to Locate your PC muscle. Put one or two fingers right behind your testicles. Pretend that you are urinating, try to stop the flow with a quick muscle contraction. That muscle you just used to stop the flow from the bladder is your PC muscle.

⦁ Flex the muscle regularly. Try to do 10 to 20 squeezes in a set, 2 or 3 times a day. Do a set whenever you’re bored or stationary—like when you’re sitting at your desk or in traffic in your car. No one will be able to see that you’re doing them and is great training for your body.

⦁ Squeeze your PC muscle when you feel ejaculation coming on. Once the muscle is strong enough, you should be able to hold it off just like stopping flow when urinating. Like all other methods listed, this will not happen overnight and will take a great deal of time and education so that your body knows exactly what is going on. Before you know it both you and your partner will enjoy longer lasting and amazing sexual intercourse.

Practice controlling your orgasm. When masturbating or with a patient partner, focus on improving your control over your climax. Stimulate yourself to the edge of climax and then stop. Do this several times before finishing. As you practice, learn to recognize the feeling of getting close to orgasm, and take note of how close you can get and still effectively stop, and when you’ve reached a “point of no return.” During intercourse, use that knowledge to slow down or adjust your movements if you get too close too early.

Tips and Tricks
⦁ Keep in mind, erectile problems come and go, and the issue of premature ejaculation is most likely not permanent.

⦁ Most men gain more control over ejaculating as they get older. If you’re still young, try not to worry too much — you’ll probably grow out of premature ejaculation, especially with more practice.

⦁ It is not uncommon for teenagers or guys in there early to mid 20’s to enjoy lots of masturbation. Out of fear of getting caught alot of guys try to reach orgasm through masturbation rather quickly. As time moves forward, and you participate in intercourse with a partner your body will simply think you are masturbating and want to reach orgasm quick.

Warnings
Do not let your anxiety about premature ejaculation stop you from having sex. Sex can be beneficial to people by lowering stress levels and has even been found to reduce the risks of prostate cancer in males. If you are concerned about your performance, focus on stimulating your partner in ways besides just intercourse. Foreplay and Oral sex are just 2 great ways to achieve this.
